Q. What is a Level Configuration?
Each Tournament Level (Junior, Adult, Wheelchair, WTN Play) and Stage (Level 1, Junior Circuit, Unsanctioned) can be configured to have its own unique set of properties. There is a wide variety of properties that can be specified. Examples of these Level Configuration Properties are Draw Format, Scoring Format, Application Fee, Length of Event, etc.
Q. Who can create a Level Configuration?
Select National, Section, and District staff with the scope of Super Administrator and Administrator - and Tournaments in Serve Control have access to create and edit Level Configurations. Level Configurations are created from a hierarchy of National > Section > District.
Q. What draw formats can I use?
Section Staff will be able to select from the options available for each level as set by National. The reason for this is because there is a close link with ranking and points awarded. Not all formats are compatible with the options for rankings.
The scoring and draw formats in Tournament Desk now represent what has been selected by the National, Section and District teams. The formats are different for each specific level of tournament and type of tournament, i.e. Adult, Junior or Wheelchair.
Q. Editing of score formats after Tournament Desk is launched?
If a tournament director needs to change the score format that is not permitted, Section Staff have the ability to edit this themselves from Serve Control. The Tournament Director will need to reach out to their Section or District staff to discuss this and see what options are available and should be used.
Q: When do the changes made in Level Configuration impact Tournament Desk.
Starting October 2022 if a change is made in Level Configuration it will automatically affect Tournament Desk. I.e. if you add a new score format or draw format, this will be available for any tournaments in progress or upcoming.
However, this new feature does not impact the Head Tax. The Head Tax is set at the time of tournament creation. For example, if a Level 7 has the head tax set in Level Config as $5 on January 1st it will affect all tournaments going forward- for a tournament on 1st August, it will have a head tax amount of $5. If then the head tax is changed on February 1st to $10 only tournaments created and submitted on or after 1st of February will charge $10.
