Conference matches are dual meets between teams within the same league that impact conference standings and tournament seeding. Non-conference (dual matches) are contests against teams from different leagues or independent matches that typically don't affect league standings, serving to complete the season schedule and provide additional competitive experience. Note that some states may also consider non-conference results for selection and seeding purposes, administrators are able to access this data for tournament planning.
