This role supports USTA events by providing you, as the Tournament Director (TD), the opportunity to serve as both the TD and Referee at Adult L6 and L7, Junior L6 and L7, Wheelchair L4 and L5 events, when approved by the local Section.
Before you can begin serving in the Dual Role capacity, check with your local Section tournament staff to get information about serving in a Dual Role capacity at Section events.
Key Benefits of the Initiative
Financial Benefit: Allows Tournament Directors to run cost-effective events at certain levels and, in turn, will potentially increase the number of events offered.
Education: Tournament Directors will receive training in areas such as basic rules, scheduling, and conflict resolution to provide the best possible consumer experience.
Exposes Tournament Directors to an Officiating Role: The goal is to create a new pathway into officiating by capturing those who enjoy this experience to go through the formal certification process, therefore increasing the number of Officials available to service events.
