What is the USTA Coaching Education Support Grant?
- USTA Coaching is committed to lowering barriers for coaches to access high-quality education at every stage in their career. To accomplish this goal, USTA Coaching is establishing a new grant program to help defray some of the costs associated with travel and attendance at certain USTA Coaching events, such as the COACHES OPEN, and other in-person workshops and summits where there are USTA Coaching educational opportunities (the “Program”)
Does the USTA offer grants to other education programs?
- In order to enhance the tennis coaching experience, USTA Coaching will identify additional events in the near future where coaches may have additional opportunities to apply for other education support grants (with awards up to a predetermined dollar amount per year), to help defray some of the costs of attending.
Is the USTA Coaching Education Support Grant still accepting applications for the 2026 COACHES OPEN?
- No. All allocated grant funds for the 2026 COACHES OPEN have been fully awarded, and the application portal is now closed. If you still wish to attend the event (August 25–27, 2026, in NYC), general registration remains open on our website.
Who was eligible to apply for this grant?

- Be an active member of the USTA Coaching community (with an active USTA Coaching benefits package).
- Be Safe Play Approved with a completed background check.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
Will grant opportunities be available for future USTA Coaching events?
- Yes. USTA Coaching is committed to lowering barriers for coaches to access high-quality education. We will identify additional events, workshops, and summits in the future where coaches can apply for education support grants. Be sure your USTA Coaching subscription is active to receive updates on future grant cycles.

How are grant funds distributed to awardees?

Distribution depends on the specific award details outlined in your Grant Award Letter:

- Flights: Booked directly by the USTA Coaching travel team on your behalf.
- Hotels: Managed either through direct reservation by USTA Coaching
- Ground Stipends: Issued via direct payment within 30 days following verified attendance at the Event.
Can I get reimbursed for flights or hotels I booked on my own prior to receiving a grant?
- No. Reimbursements are not issued for previous non-refundable travel or hotel bookings made directly by the applicant outside of the USTA Coaching grant process.
Can I upgrade my flight or hotel room?
- The grant covers standard economy airfare booked by USTA Coaching and base room rates ($284+/night) at our designated host hotel (New York Hilton Midtown). Any room incidentals, flight upgrades, preferred seat selections, or checked baggage fees are the responsibility of the grant recipient.
