Coaching Provider Definitions
Volunteer
A coach who provides tennis instruction or mentorship without (or minimal) financial compensation.
Emerging Coach
A coach who provides tennis instruction or mentorship without (or minimal) financial compensation, or a practitioner who has 5 years or less of tennis coaching experience and is in the early developmental stages of their coaching career.
Schools Coach
An instructor or faculty member employed or contracted by a primary or secondary school (K–12) to lead scholastic tennis teams, developmental clinics, or interscholastic league programs.
Full-Time Professional Coach (30+ Hours)
A certified tennis professional whose primary occupation is on-court instruction and program management, committing 30 or more hours per week to areas such as private lessons, group clinics, team training, and player development.
Part-Time Coach (< 30 Hours)
A paid tennis instructor who delivers lessons or clinic support on a limited, seasonal, or hourly schedule, devoting fewer than 30 hours per week to on-court and/or administrative duties.
College Coach
An individual employed by a higher education institution (NCAA, NAIA, or NJCAA) to manage a men's or women's tennis team.
Parent / Guardian Coach
A parent or caregiver actively involved in supporting a player’s tennis journey, whether through direct on-court instruction, team/club volunteer support, or managing the logistical, financial, and developmental aspects of their child's tennis experience.
